Decepticony i Autoboty to dwa zwaśnione rody robotów. Walczą ze sobą od pokoleń. Każdy Decepticon to uosobienie zła. Autoboty z kolei stoją po stronie dobra. Decepticonom przewodzi okrutny i zły Megatron, z kolei dowódcą Autobotów jest Optimus Prime. Walka tych dwóch nacji od wieków toczyła się na ich rodzinnej planecie, jednak podczas lotu kosmicznego pomiędzy Autobotami a Decepticonami, dochodzi do pojedynku i nieszczęśliwym przypadkiem wrogowie trafiają na planetę Ziemię.
